Contra Rogue Corps

A squad-based Contra shoot-em-up: you push a fireteam through ruined streets, swapping gadgets and reviving teammates instead of running a lone two-button gauntlet.
About This Game
Contra built its name on run-and-gun shooting: you walk into a wall of bullets and keep moving. Rogue Corps keeps that fantasy and changes the unit. You are not one silent commando. You run a corps — a handful of fighters with roles, gadgets, and the option to bring friends into the same push.
The setting is Earth after an alien war. Streets, holds, and wrecked interiors are the stages. Combat is still about staying alive in a storm of fire, but you aim from the shoulder, use cover, and spend tools instead of only memorizing a scroll. Four people can share the same mission. A downed teammate is a problem the squad solves, not a lone continue screen.
The tone is louder and more comic-book than the old arcade entries. Vehicles and heavy weapons sit on top of the rifle. If you came for Contra, this is the one that plays like a fireteam in a shoot-em-up, not a two-button corridor. The loop is loadout, push, revive, and take the next block.
Pros
- Squad classes and gadgets sit on top of classic Contra gunplay
- Four-player co-op turns a solo push into a shared firefight
- Missions move through ruined streets instead of one locked corridor
- Shoulder aiming and cover give the shooting a different rhythm than the old side-scroll
Cons
- The comic-book corps tone is a long way from the cold arcade Contra
- Loadouts and revives slow the pure two-button sprint some fans want
- Playing alone you feel the design leaning on a team that is not there
