Captain Toad Treasure Tracker

Captain Toad walks diorama stages for treasure — puzzle-platforming with no jump-fight, just routes, pixels, and a backpack full of gadgets.
About This Game
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is a platformer that threw out the jump-as-weapon habit of Mario. Captain Toad (and Toadette in later stages) can walk, climb, throw, and turn the camera around a small diorama. Enemies are obstacles in a jewel hunt, not a combat roster.
Each stage is a miniature set: a tower, a ship, a cave you rotate in your head. The goal is a treasure chest and the pixels hidden in the scenery. You fall off, you retry, you notice a plank you could have walked. Power-ups and gadgets appear, but the skill is seeing the route, not timing a stomp.
The Switch release holds the original hunt plus extra stages that lean on that same toy-box camera. It is a short, dense set of rooms rather than an open kingdom. There is no lore sermon. There is a Toad, a backpack, and a level that looks like a cake you can walk on. That is the whole pitch.
Pros
- Diorama stages are readable puzzles, not invisible-trick platforming
- No jump-combat: the camera and the route are the skill
- Pixel hunts reward looking, not grinding
- Short stages make a session one or two worlds, not a campaign slog
Cons
- If you want Mario's jump and stomp, the move set will feel small on purpose
- Some camera angles hide a ledge until you rotate again
- The adventure is a gallery of rooms, not a connected overworld
