A tennis sim: you walk onto a court, hold a rally, and play a tour. The drama is the point, not a written plot.
About This Game
AO Tennis 2 is a sports title about tennis, not about a written adventure. You create or pick a player, walk onto a court, and play a match. Serves, returns, and movement along the baseline are the verbs. A tour strings those matches into a season.
The fantasy is being in the point. You read the ball, choose a shot, and live with a long rally or a short error. Surfaces change how the ball sits. Licensed atmosphere around the Australian Open name sits on top of that same rally.
There is no second game hiding behind the sport. You stay for one more set or you put it down after a bad double fault. If the rally feels good, you stay. If you wanted a narrative career with cutscenes, this is still a tennis match first.
Pros
- Rallies are the whole show: serve, return, placement
- Tour structure gives a season without forcing a soap-opera script
- Surfaces change how you play a point
Cons
- There is no adventure plot if you wanted characters and chapters
- A sim rally can feel stern next to arcade sports
- One sport fills the box
